This is a vintage (kitchen?) timer made by the Lux Clock Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, Connecticut. The company started operation in 1914, but the art deco styling of this timer would suggest a date of 1920-30s. I’m a big fan of art deco, so something about the simple lines of this really appealed to me.
The timer is virtually untouched, although it doesn’t keep time any more. It has been highlighted using a silver napkin ring, a turned mahogany wood piece and an embroidered white shade, which casts light nicely on the silver dial of the timer. Simple, yet elegant.
