We picked up this 1930s Chrysler dashboard gauge cluster some time ago, as we liked the art-deco look of it.  Inspiration finally hit when we took the innards out of a vintage clock and the box was sitting around – also with an art-deco look.  The resulting lamp looks like a vintage radio – it is illuminated by a strip of LEDs that shine through a gap at the top of the gauge cluster, where it would originally have been illluminated.  A marriage made in heaven!

All electrical components are new.  The LEDs are DC powered and are rated to last 50,000 hours – that’s about 6 years of continuous use.
